When asked what you want most in life, what do you answer?

Most people get caught up in the throes of riches and treasure. But what matters most at the end of the day?

If leading a calm and peaceful life sounds enticing to you, come along as I take you through the secrets passed on to me by my ancestors.

  • Know who you are.

You might wonder why this is even a secret.

Like Moana’s grandmother asked Moana during her journey, “Do you know who you are?” I am asking you, “Who are you apart from your name, age, relationships, job, wealth, etc.?

Life is easier when you know what makes you undeniably you!

You have already heard that everyone is special and unique. But in a world that chases somebody else’s idea of perfection, you can choose to be an authentic and original piece.

So, are you staying true to who you are? Are you committing to your values, beliefs, and morals, even though it may make you undesirable? Are you brave enough to remain dedicated to what makes you unique?

If you said yes, you are already doing something right!

  • Pick your fights cleverly.

Life is a battlefield, but not every opponent is worth your time.

When you were young, you probably thought that shying away from a fight made you a loser. Or worse, you will be seen as a coward. It’s time you realised there is nothing wrong with turning down a fight to protect your serenity.

As a fighter, let me tell you this: life has been calmer since I started choosing when to fight and let go. Hulking out now and then seems less desirable now.

As Michael Jackson sang, ‘I am a lover, not a fighter.’ Be a lover of your peace of mind. The rest will fall into place.

  • Create healthy boundaries.

It is good to be selfless, but letting people walk all over you is a different matter.

Most people know this story: you let someone get too close and become a doormat to make them happy. They take advantage of your kindness and inability to say “no” and then leave you in the dust.

If you have been there, I want to remind you that it is time to set boundaries.

Don’t think of it as building a wall around yourself. It is simply an act of deciding where your limits are.

Setting your limits can help you create a safe space for yourself. It is about you being able to rely on yourself and prioritising yourself.

When you establish healthy boundaries, it does not make you selfish or mean, but an adult.

  • Tune in to nature.

The world holds so many mysteries. It would be a damn shame if you missed it.

In a digital world, living in bustling cities with almost no access to nature may have made you forget how relaxing nature can be.

Just imagine you and nature. The trees swayed in the soft breeze. The flowers light up your world in a burst of colour. The songs of the birds melt harmoniously with the wind. Wouldn’t that be soothing?

Reconnecting with nature can help you learn lessons you never could from a human. After all, it’s one of the best teachers and muses in the universe. If you allow it, you may finally learn how to paint with all the colours of the wind!

  • Take care of yourself.

Everything starts from within: love, acceptance, and peace.

How you lead your life rests in your hands. You may believe in fate or karma, but those intertwine with your choices.

If you want a calm and peaceful life, you must work towards it. You can start by taking care of your body. Stay active to stay fit! Make sure not to forget about your mental health. Without it, you would lead a half-assed life.

Health is wealth, and life is a treasure. Treasures flourish when taken care of.

Leading a happy life boils down to your actions and thoughts. You have the power to influence. Be grateful for what you have. Keep working on yourself. Above all, remember the secrets that I let you in on.
